Yes, i heard Nishant. The statement was made day before yesterday. Till now, it was the State Government which fixes the property tax to be levied on the owners. The State Government would henceforth fix only the floor and the ceiling rates of properties. While reviewing the tax structure, the Chief Minister said that municipal bodies should be self sufficient in terms of availability of funds for development. For this, he directed the officers to explore additional possibility for increasing the income of Municipalities other than the grants from the Government.
Just need help to get details about amount being charged for registration of property. Actually we are going to buy a plot of 400 sq. yard cost INR 10,000 per sq. yard. I bought a flat from builder in 2008 and registry is being done now. What will be the cost at which stamp duty will be paid- at actual cost or today's circle rate? Will the cost be any different if I got it transfered through the builder from first buyer?

Hi Supratim, According to me, you cant do it. Because there will be some authority issue. You can only register your property in the office of sub register or joint sub register, within whose authority the property is located.
As per my knowledge, stamp duties are collected to create revenue by taxing instruments ;to penalize by rendering an unduly stamped instrument to be in admissible in evidence as well as to provide for penalty against evasions of Stamp Duty.

The stamp duty in Haryana is dependent on different criteria s eg: sales deed or conveyance deed, whether within the municipal boundary or not and finally its also different for male and female.
1. Sales deed and within municipal boundary then stamp duty for males is 7% and females is 5%.
2. Sales deed and outside municipal boundary then stamp duty for males is 5% and females is 3%.
3. Conveyance deed within municipal boundary is charges at 7% and,
4. Conveyance deed Outside the municipal boundary is charged at 5%.
