Lockdown Day 17: Make your kitchen life easy and organized
In this day and age of busy urban lifestyle most of us face time constraints while chasing deadlines. The busy lifestyle has made sure that we are always running up to catch with up the lost time. Twenty four hours sometimes appear too little for us to compile our daily life functions. While wishing for a couple of more hours to embed our daily lives in a perfect time cycle is wishful thinking, we can save some time by smart management especially in the Kitchen to help us balance our lives and organize the daily chores.
Here is a list of ten kitchen time savers to make your life easy and more organized.
Keep an updated grocery list: An updated grocery list is of paramount importance when it comes to saving time in the kitchen. Rather than running around to the market in case of an emergency, an updated grocery list helps one to organize and keep ample supplies especially of the staple diet in one’s kitchen.
Knives and Cutlery: Always keep the cutlery handy especially the kitchen knives that play an intrinsic part in any food preparation. A good pair of kitchen scissors, cutters and drink openers can be arranged neatly in a stack while knives need to be sharpened periodically to avoid any delays.
Stack Vegetables: Stacking some common vegetables in the refrigerator helps in cutting out any market trips. Vegetables with a good shelf life like peas, potatoes and onions can be stacked in the kitchen to make up a quick meal rather than running around the market to procure the vegetables.
Focus on Convenience Items: If you are always pressed for time, there are certain convenience items readily available in the market that you can consider. Items like pre chopped vegetables, minced meats, garlic and ginger paste can double up as fast replacements rather than making them at home.
Keep Dedicated Shelves: Keep dedicated shelves for vegetables, fruits and other edible items to save time and adding a sense of organization in your kitchen space. While all vegetables can be stacked in one cabinet, fruits can have a dedicated shelf to quicken up the proceedings.
Clean the Dishes at Night: It may sound like a boring syndrome to clean up the dishes and the sink after a good night’s dinner but any work done in the night helps save cleaning up time in the morning. You can consider buying a dishwasher if you are not comfortable with manually cleaning up the dishes.
Double Up: You can cook a particular dish in slightly larger quantity than required which can be used on another day or alternate day. Refrigeration offers a good way to maintain old dishes which can be heated ion an oven or microwave to offer a quick gourmet in case of any emergencies.
Clean up the Trash: There is ample time while preparing dishes which can be used as multitask to perform small cleaning errands. Cleaning up the trash can takes a very little time when done swiftly rather than doing it after a fixed number of days.
Chop the vegetables in your free time: If you have a day off, you can use it wisely to prepare the ground for meals for the coming days. Vegetables can be chopped and stored for future use helping in quick cooking time when needed during the week.
Have a fixed Recipe: Having a fixed recipe for each day of the week can be quite helpful when it comes to saving time. Rather than thinking what dish to cook for the day, a pre planned recipe in consultation with your family makes it easier and less time consuming.
