- According to Vaastu Shastra, fire prevails in south-east direction. So ideally the kitchen should be located in south-east of the home.
- The kitchen should not be placed under or above Pooja Room, Toilet or Bed Room.
- The kitchen door should open in North, North East or East direction in clockwise manner.
- Cook should face the East or North. This brings good health for the family members and violating this with face towards South while cooking could bring financial losses to the family.
- The cooking stove is best placed in the South East corner (the place of Lord Agni).
- Heavy stuff in the North East corner are an absolute no-no. It would be best to keep your kitchen sink and other water elements such as your drinking water in this corner.
- If your refrigerator is kept inside the kitchen, then it should be placed in the South West direction. Vaastu recommends south-east directions for electrical appliances.
- Fire and water do not go together. Therefore, Vaastu recommends that your sink and taps should not be close to the cooking stove.
- If your dining table is in the kitchen, it should not be in the centre of the kitchen area. Place it in the North West. While taking food one should only face towards east or north for good digestion.
- According to Vaastu, any toilet or bathroom should not share a common wall with your kitchen.
