Vastu in Durga puja
Implementing Vastu in Durga puja is simple; it is all about following some recommendations for arranging alter and the rest; according to Vastu, the design and arrangement of durga puja premise should be arranged in such way so the positives energy can flow at the same tune of purity and impetus of medication.
The puja room/ the alter for MaaDurga should be situated at the northern side of the premise; if northern side is not available, you have to select between east and north east corners for placing the alter. The size of the idol should not be more than 10ft by any means.
The entrance of the worship place of MaaDurga should not be in front of the main entrance gate. The legs of the idol should be at least at the chest level of the priest.
The idols or the pictures of goddess should be placed on a four legged platform and ideally to be placed at least 1inch distance from the wall. The color of the place of worship should be either white or light blue or lemony green. On personal discretion, purple color can also be applied on puja place as this color is known for improving meditation and concentration.
There are specific directions for putting diyas and lamps at the place of worship forMaaDurga.The Akhand-jot should be placed at the south-east corner [Agneyo angle]. If there is any lamp shade, it is to be placed in the southeast corner of the room. Placing the “mangal-ghat” on a sandalwood table is the most desirable setting as per Vastu recommendation. TheNavratri flag, if any, should be placed at the vayyab angle, [north-east corner] of the puja premise.
For puja only silver and copper utensils are to be used. Use of iron made or stainless steel made utensils are strictly prohibited for use inDurga Puja according to vastu recommendation.
There should be some free-place in front of the alter in order to accommodate those who want to watch the worshipping. The goddess should be offered red clothes, red flower, and red lotus as offering.
Nobody should enter puja place without cleaning hands and feet. According to Vastu recommendation, one should not rub feet one against another for cleaning. However the rear side of the feet should be cleaned first.
During Navaratri, it is said not to cut hair, not cut/trim nails, and not to stich or knit. When devotion and religious attention gets combined with vastu power, it offers benefits and blessings for well being for all of us for the year ahead.
