What are the differences in various plans that we see to describe home designs?

Q: I see "Key Plan", "Master Plan", "Floor Plan", "Site Plan" etc. How are they different from each other? What other types of plans are there?

Hi Mukesh. Key plan is used to describe the feature depicted on the construction plans of large and complex projects. The overall project is drawn on a large scale. The detailed plan of the large scale can be viewed in the key plan which is of smaller scale. Master plan is a long term strategy as the name suggests. It is the blueprint for the future for the apartment to be shaped into. In architecture, floor plan means a diagram which shows the relationship between the rooms, spaces and other physical features at one level of a structure. It is the top view of the interior of a building. Site plan is the drawing of proposed improvements to a given plot. It shows the building footprint including all the details like parking, drainage facilities, sanitary lines, water lines, lighting, landscaping and garden elements.
