Q: I heard that the newly constructed buildings in Mumbai lack rainwater harvesting system. Why so?

There was news that Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation made it mandatory for the new buildings to have rain water harvesting system in 2007

None of the top civic officials seem to be interested in the scheme as most new buildings have ignored the civic body’s blanket rule of mandatory rain water harvesting plant.

Yes you are right, a tunnel and a water treatment plant, which are being constructed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are running behind schedule.
