Q: I heard that Chennai Corporation has created many parking lots and roads on beaches. Is it true.?

Hi Lokesh..This research was commissioned by Save Chennai Beaches Campaign and was run by faculty members of various institutions like Indian Institute of Science. They found that many beaches like Srinivasapuram beach, beach at Adyar river, Kapaleeswarar Nagar beach etc have been occupied by the corporation by dumping debris and then they are converting into parking spaces and roads.

Hi ..i have been living in Chennai from past 10 years..gradually all the coastal area has been transformed..anyways who conducted this research..?? I mean was it a private body or a government body..??

Yes Sanjana.. the civic body has been found dumping debris at many coastal areas of Chennai city. PWD and many private contractors are also their in the list. They together have already converted 15 acre of beach into roads and parking lots

Hi Sanjana..a research was conducted and it was found put that most of the parking lots and road in Chennai have been created by several beach areas. Ans Specially Chennai Corporation has big hand in this matter. Even Public Works Department is involved in this.
