The Corporation will primarily screen roads constructed after 1991 in the CRZ-II and CRZ-III areas. Norms pertaining to urban development under the second master plan will not be applicable in CRZ-II that includes developed areas within 500 metres from the shore. Roads, infrastructure projects and housing are not allowed in CRZ-III, which covers a 500-metre stretch of beach from Injambakkam to Uthandi. Chennai Corporation will direct private buildings without disabled-friendly infrastructure to make necessary modifications. Corporation focus will mostly be on private buildings that are used as public premises. Until now, the civic body had been taking measures to regulate only public buildings.
