Earlier in January 2013, the general body of the civic body approved the draft development plan for old city areas in Pune. The civic body also gives discount in property tax to those who have implemented these eco-friendly norms in their properties. The policy is mainly to promote the environmental, economic, health and safety benefits of green buildings.
I agree with Suraj. Also, the equipments used by these properties should be approved by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) as per the proposal. This amendment was requested to motivate more and more builders to make constructions more eco-friendly with solar and wind energy equipment installed to reduce use of electricity. The eco-housing policy in Pune was adopted in 2008 to educate developers, architects and buyers for a makeover of the city and create awareness about environment-friendly homes.
Hi Raj, the development plan (DP) in draft mode which has been approved recently is likely to provide floor space index (FSI) benefits to eco-friendly buildings in Pune. The properties in Pune which promote use of wind and solar energy in their schemes are likely to get the advantage. Now, two additional FSI or 50% discount has been planned to give in the paid FSI to those properties which have solar and wind energy equipment installed.
