Q: Hi..all..few days back some cleaning work was initiated at Porur lake. What is the status right now..??

Hi Kunal...The main aim of this project is to strengthen the bund, desilt and deepen the water bodies by two metres. It will not only increase drinking water sources but will also recharge groundwater table in the localities of city. The cost of this project is Rs 130 crore and is expected to complete in 18 months.

Hi Diwakar..porur lake is getting very dirty. Even Ayanambakkam lake and Nemam lake is exploited by private water suppliers. I think that water resource department is looking after them.They are also removing encroachments in Ananbakkam. We hope that all these works get complete soon.

Hi Alex..The cleaning work for rejuvenating the water bodies initiated few days back. Government gave the orders to increase water capacity a year ago but this project faced many hindrances like delay in tendering process.
