@ lekshmi..Even the operation and maintenance work of metro in Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore is carried out by themselves. While public-private partnership (PPP) model is implemented in Hyderabad and Mumbai successfully.
Yes amreesh..this is a good effort to create job vacancies. For the two corridors of Chennai metro which are covering total distance of 45 kms, metro rails are generating over 30 skilled jobs per kilometre of operation. This means that around 1,350 technically qualified people would be required for this project.
Hi lekshmi ..i think there are some financial issues related to the project when outsourcing would be done. I heard that currently the company is training graduate engineers of Indian Institute of Technology Madras. It is good that they are generating opportunities.
Hi Sudhakar... The Chennai metro rail project will be operated and maintained by Chennai Metro Rail Ltd only. Although CMRL called for international competitive bids to outsource operation and maintenance work of Chennai metro project. But now they have dropped this idea and decided to do it on its own.
