I think this depends on the dynamics of the family as well as the gift and the will property. Both have same effects and consequences. So i think its you who needs to decide what you want actually

Guys will property is much more easy to handle as the name of owner can be changed anytime and can pass over years. whereas a gift property needs more permissions and also cannot be continued . So i guess for the will property

I guess it i compulsory for gift deed to go for registration and also for a stamp duty. Although in a will property stamp duty is not needed and even registration is not compulsory

Hi i have faced this problem. Only after the death of the donner, the donee can accept the property. Until the main owner is alive this property transfer will not have any value. So a property through will is bit complex and also causes many family issues.

Most important thing in this case is, in both of the them the person is not required to pay anything. Both the terms it is gifted or got as a inherit property, due are in gratuitous in nature. Make sure in what ever terms it is, the documents are proper and the owner should write properly the name of the person who he going to gift it and also mention that this transfer is approved by him.
