Well said Anuj and Jerome..i feel that literacy level among workers is motivating them to seek alternate job opportunities which are lesser labour-intensive. The increasing cost of living in big cities is also adding fuel to labour shortage
yeah that could be a reason..also many workers are sitting at home due to success of welfare scheme such as rural jobs-guarantee programme which ensures 100 days of work in a year to a poor household.
Some say that the rapid urbanization of rural areas has been a major contributor in the shortage of construction labour in the cities. It has resulted in increased employment opportunities and slow seasonal migration of workers.
Yes Sanjana..the real estate projects in India are facing shortage of both skilled and unskilled labour resulting in delay of launch of projects. This is adding cost burden on developers also.
