This May,2013, the National Green Tribunal also raised complaints against the illegal farmhouses along the river bed, but no action was taken. Its only after the Uttarakhand tragedy, Noida Authority has taken this matter seriously.
Noida authority will send a team along with police to demolish the illegal buildings on the floodplains of Yamuna and the Hindon if their owners don’t do so in the next seven days.
The farmhouses are spreader over 124 hectares on the floodplains. As per the authority most of the farmhouse belongs to the IAS, politicians and IPS officers.
The authority is issuing the notice for the farmhouse owners along with that, they are launching a drive against them following an order from the Uttar Pradesh chief secretary, who has instructed officials in Greater Noida, Noida and Ghaziabad to clear the floodplains of encroachments.
All the farmhouse are situated in the posh area, i.e. sector 135 Noida. The authority has given the ultimatum of to raze the concrete structures within seven days or else authority will take severe actions.
The Uttarakhand emergency has evoked the Noida authority, to remove all the outhouses from the river belt. Noida Authority has sent demolition notices to 350 people who own farmhouses built illegally in the Yamuna and Hindon floodplains.
