Do they officially charge is my query? When I say official, I mean with any document like receipt / sale deed or construction agreement mentioning charges for car park space.

All builders charge for parking space.. Not only in Chennai, but also in other cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, etc, builders do charge for parking. But the rates are different for different areas/cities, in some areas it is Rs 1 lakh per parking lot while while in some areas it is Rs 3 lakh or may be even more for some projects... But in case of 2 wheeler parking, many projects offer free parking.

Yes I am aware. But Golden Homes claims that all builders in chennai are charging extra. I am looking for details of builders who are officially charging for parking spaces.
Will be happy to have those details.

Every day you hear about builders charging between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 15 lakh for a single parking slot along with their flats. The car park cost me around Rs 1 lakh, but since I had a motorcycle and a car, I thought it would be better to take two slots.

Hi Viswanathan, you are right. But still there are some builders who still charge for parking space and innocent buyers are charged twice for the same parking space :(

If builders take some amount initially and give buyers a basement parking then there is no harm. If the parking space is not allotted, it will create problems for residents.

These spaces are part of the common areas in flat complexes, so builders are not supposed to charge for parking space!
