Q: What’s this whole problem about builders using ground water in Noida?

The problem is that real estate developers in Noida are still extracting groundwater even after a clear blanket ban which has been imposed by the National Green Tribunal as well as the Supreme Court.

To make matters worse, developers have installed long pipelines to empty groundwater which is extracted from their sites at other locations as well. Environmentalists are up against this violation of norms and have blamed the Noida and Greater Noida authorities for allowing developers in getting away with this.

So what if they used ground water? It is after all from their own site.

am surprised you said that. Do you know one developer on an average extracts and throws away 2.5 crore litres of water every day to lay a building's foundation. We let this prolong and soon we will start cribbing that there is a shortage of water in Noida.
