Under this scheme, a grant of Rs 60-70 crore will be made by the Centre exclusively for initiating e-governance, and civic services like water supply, drainage, and civic amenities. The Union government has demanded a city development plan for Sanand by March 2010. Though the area comes under Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority limits, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has being chosen as a nodal body for undertaking this project work.

Nano town, Sanand, that was enjoying its new status in the world, has a little more to cheer. The precinct has been announced a " satellite town" of megacity Ahmedabad. A steering committee of the Union urban development ministry made a formal announcement in this.
