A salaried person whose allowance exceeding Rs one lakh per annum will have to obtain the PAN card number. It is suggested the one should take the PAN card details along with the address of the rented property and the permanent address of the landlord on a plain A4 size paper and submit it to the employer. The documents need not have to be a notarized document. The idea behind this move is to stop the practice of fake HRA claims. The government also wants to keep a check on those people who do not provide correct details of the rent income.

Kindly check with your employer for the further details.
