Hi Anuj, Though practically it looks to be task cut out for the Govt, because there are more than 5 lakh units which still need to be redeveloped apart from 1600 ch awls which have been redeveloped in last 23 years. In this rate it will take close to 200 years to redevelop Mumbai to world class city. Hmmmm. Lets C what happens.
Yes Sandeep. I totally agree with you in this aspect. The more shocking news is that more than 2 million people are still living in 19672 depleted buildings which may crash at any point of time and it is heartening to know that most of them are living in one room accommodation. Feel so pity and sad for them Yaar.
Yes Ashish, I too feel very bad for these inmates staying in unhygienic conditions in absolute structures and buildings. Since there are no new fresh lands available, the Govt is forced to consider the redevelopment of existing buildings and slums. But redevelopment of the slums and chawls become a reality? Thats the question to be asked??
Hey Ramesh, Yeah even I too came across the news that Mumbai is heading towards redevelopment. It is something nice to hear such news. Redevelopment is the only solution left with the Govt since most of the old buildings are crumbling.
Hi Ravi, But the fact is that no new land is available for development since there are buildings and structures everywhere. Hence the Govt has to only consider for redevelopment as they do not have any other option.
