Hey Ashish,
But environment clearance is mandatory for constructions above 20000 sqmts. But some developers carrying out slum rehabilitation and redevelopment has approached the Mumbai high court. The court has directed that builders whose construction is limited within 20000 sqmts should not be penalized.

Hey Praveen,
Came to know that MIDC has issued the commencement certificate but it has newer asked for the environment clearance. The state environment department will now issue show cause notices to the violators, hold hearings and will decide whether they should be dragged to court.

Hi Deepankar,
It seems that stern action will be taken against several developers by the state Govt. for undertaking construction without prior environment clearance. It seems that there are more than 100 cases pending against such builders for violating the norms.

Hi,
Along with various developers, the State Bank of India, the state police housing corporation and Reliance’s Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City have been found to have carried out constructions in violation of the Environment Protection Act. Reliance sources said they had permissions from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to carry out the construction.
