a) Minimising traffic congestion within the city central areas. b)Proximity to established commercial and established residential hubs c)ORR connects industrial suburbs that house automobile giants such as Hyundai, Ford and Renault Nissan – and facilities like multiplex, residential, hospital, commercial, warehouse and green spaces.
@Jackie: Residential areas have been planned for more than 150 acres near minjur while residential spaces have been planned at Nazarathpet and Poonamallee.
Poonamallee is a excellent location in Chennai. And very near to Chennai Public School, and Thirumalisai Statelite Townships. Just 500 meters from Poonamallee to Thiruvallur State Highway. Sevapet Railway Station just 2 kms only. And very good bus transport facilities are available in this locality. The price trends is Rs 8,330-9,370 per sq ft.
The region close to NH-45 is seen as a high-growth area covering the suburbs of Minjur, Vandalur, Mannivakkam and Mudichur is the location for a 5-star hotel. Minjur would be the site for a hospital, IT and commercial, public spaces and green areas.
Hey thanks for the quick reply. I heard there was four construction phases for the Chennai ORR traffic project. What was the benefits in traffic congestion ?
@Gurmeet: The first phase comprises segment one and segment two.
a) construction of the Vandalur-Nazarathpet Road at a length of 19.7km, occupying 265.34hectares b) construction of the Nazarathpet-Nemilicherry Road at a length of 9.5km, spreading over 140.9hectares
The second phase includes segments three and four. Segment three a)construction of the 19.1km Nemilicherry-Nallur Road, spread across 258.02hectares b)construction of 14km Nallur-Minjur Road over an area of 195.8hectares
Phase one of ORR will connect the NH4, NH45 and NH205 highways, from Vandalur in the south to Nemilicherry in the north of Chennai.
Yes there were benefits that due to this project it was allowed heavy vehicles journey outside of the city, minimising traffic congestion within the city central areas.
Hello Komathi, Chennai's Outer Ring Road is a 62.3km project being constructed in two phases around the Chennai Metropolitan Area in Tamil Nadu, India. The project will connect the GST Road starting at Vandalur to the TPP Road, ending at Minjur.
The main objective of the project is to allow heavy vehicles to journey outside of the city, minimising traffic congestion within the city central areas.
Yes Himani, Actually the land for the project was acquired in two phases. Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority acquired land for the first phase and took possession of 29.65km of land between national highway (NH) 45 and NH205, covering 29 villages.
The second phase acquired approximately 30km of land from Nemilicheri to Minjur, covering several villages and the project is expected to boost real estate prices and commercial activities in the surrounding areas.
