The municipal corporation constructed a 9-km bypass around Sangamner town on Nashik-Pune national highway (NH 50) which was open for the commuters by end of January. The bypass is constructed to save the time required to cross over the town, which is a major junction on the highway. :) :)
As far as I know government has approved the project and has also sanctioned Rs 8.5 crores for the construction. The construction will begin before the Kumbh Mela 2015-16 in Nashik. Now commuters can expect a hassle free track and a smooth ride very soon.
Due to industrial development in Chakan there is heavy traffic between Nashik and Pune and between Pune and Shirdi, as most of the pilgrims travelling from south of India take this route. For which the local body decided to have a bypass to the city as the chance for increasing the width of the present NH 50 passing is not much.
The motorists take nearly 6 hours to cross the 211-km NH 50 between Nashik and Pune in either directions because of the heavy traffic on the road. The major bottleneck on the route is Sangamner and hence, the bypass will be a major relief to the motorists.
Yeah may be two years back PCMC has sent a letter to the National Highway Authority of India demanding that the Pune-Nashik highway stretch from Nashik Phata to Moshi be widened to six lanes.
