Is it legal in India to do religious discrimination while giving a house for rent ?

Q: Some owners have preferences on religion of tenants while letting their houses. Is it legal in Indian laws?

This is not legal in India to do religious discrimination while giving a house for rent but however there are few societies like Jains etc where they do not want to rent out the flat to people who are non vegetarian. Again it depends on the owners choice.
