Hi everybody, A day before commencement of Mumbai Metro operations has got entangled in a legal dispute over price hike with the state-run Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority moving the Bombay High Court against the operator over the fare hike.
Well Ashish, I don't think that anybody will be happy with that price. Even the Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said he would inaugurate the service only if the operator Mumbai Metro One agreed to stick to the “original” tariff quoted in the tender. The matter is slated to be heard on Monday.
@Praveen, But Debashish Mohanty, a director of MMOPL told that they would go ahead with the launch of the service on the 11.4-km line from Versova in the western suburbs to Ghatkopar in the east through Andheri on Sunday even if the chief minister did not come for the inauguration.
Hi all,
Row over fares for the Mumbai Metro project between the Maharashtra government and Reliance Infrastructure . MMRDA has already approached the Bombay High Court on Monday asking it to hear its plea against the fare hike by Reliance Infrastructure for the Mumbai Metro
Yep, you are right..... The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority is understood to be define the costs incurred by Reliance Infrastructure to understand how exactly the operating costs have risen. Why are they not hire any independent organization to set up the price?
Well Sunil, The MMRDA appointed Louis Berger Group, an independent organization who has submitted their report, which is being studied, without announcing any details.
@kishore, The MMRDA's conclusions will assume significance role as Reliance-Infra told that the fares have been fixed under slabs of Rs 10/20/30/40, primarily because of a sharp increase in the operating costs.
Hi Vineet, After a long wait, the first metro service in Mumbai was rolled out on Sunday in the presence of chief minister Prithviraj Chavan who flag off the service.
Hi Vineet, It is really a good news for us. Even i enjoyed the ride as well. I can proudly say that i was the first to ride the Mumbai Metro. Within six hours of its operations over 100000 passengers enjoyed the train ride.
@Ashish, Earlier in the day, the services on the 11.4 km Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar section, connecting the western and eastern suburbs, were launched by Mumbai CM along with ADAG chairman Anil Ambani and his wife Tina Ambani at 10.10 am.
@Praveen, With the launch of Mumbai metro, Mumbai becomes the fourth city in the country to have metro rail operations, besides Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore.
