Q: So I recently read in the news that the Kochi Metro Rail will do wonders for Tripunithra's real estate. What's the locality like in terms of its civic problems and property potential?
Some members of the royal family still stay in Tripunithra! So apart from just being a fast developing locality, this place is also a major tourist sttraction in Kochi. Some parts of the royal family house has even been converted into a museum. Now this isn't the best real estate locality with the greatest potential in Kochi. But you do get affordable houses and rent is much cheaper here than in places like MG road and Marine Drive. In fact, it actually seems like the better option because it's got great connectivity and infrastructure facilities. It seems to be turning into a prominent location for residential homes because there are tons of vacant plots here that many people are interested in.
Yeah the metro rail project is Tripunithra's saving grace! Also the funds for this project have been increased so that means the plan for a shopping complex come bus bay next to metro station might also become a reality. This will ease some of the civic issues that Tripunithra faces like traffic, pollution and unhygienic conditions. Non conventional sectors like Tripunithra have been chosen to be part of the Metro Rail to increase the locality's property revenue. So that development can happen everywhere in Kochi simultaneously! Essentially Tripunithra is part of Kochi's suburban land so development at a faster pace is bound to happen here. Lot of potential! :)
Forget about Kochi metro rail for a second and think about the Tripunithra railway station. What a waste of the blood and sweat of the builders who constructed it because it is barely ever used and is underutilised. I had to travel 15 kms away to Ernakulum railway station just to catch a train because it never stopped at Tripunithra. Like it wasn't important enough or something! The situation is still like that. That's why this Kochi Metrol Rail project has been extended to Tripunithra. This is the only way that traffic congestion will also decrease in the streets. Anyway, let's hope something works out, and that this project finishes soon!
