Yeah, that’s what I’ve heard as well. Can you imagine what a great improvement in the Coimbatore atmosphere will be so much green cover. And not just improving the greenery in the city, this project is also going to recharge the ground water level. Don’t worry about the sewage water, its going to be treated over and over, before it is let into the ground. Otherwise there will be massive ground water pollution! I’m hearing that for the initial phases they are going to go with Malai Vembu, Kadambu and Arjuna trees. This would be a great industrial venture as well! I’m certainly quite hopeful about this endeavour.

Yeah you’re right. They are definitely working towards creating a nice and green artificial forest. So this initiative is basically by the Forest College and Research Institute under the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. They have even recruited a team, who is going to be selecting the perfect kinds of trees which will suit this area. They are also going over other details like soil composition, water quality, transpiration rate etc. This will help their decision in picking the correct trees for this project.

Last I hear the Ukkadam sewage treatment plant was going to be handover 3 acres of land from their allocated land to the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) for research purposes. The TNAU are actually trying to look into methods by which we can actually recycle the sewage water and use it innovatively. I even heard that they are going to use all the sewage water to create some kind of artificial forest. There was a council meeting last week, where it was decided to let the researcher use the land for their study purposes.
