Inefficient roads at Kukatpally

Q: I'm relocating to Kukatpally in Hyderabad and was wondering if I would face difficulty getting to work everyday because of the broken roads and potholes in the area?

I don't really think it should be too much of a problem for you to commute to work. It also depends on how far away it is from your house but even then, the roads have improved a lot. I read here http://www.commonfloor.com/news/tag/water-problem-in-kukatpally that there is still a lot of work going on but if you ride a 2 wheeler, then it's nothing you can't avoid. The roads are now well lit and all the manholes have been covered.

That is not entirely true. After Jayaprakash Narayan won the elections in the assembly, he took immediate action to start rectifying Hyderabad's many civic problems. Kulkatpally was one of the localities that was considered to have the worst civic amenities and the assembly set to repair the roads and water scarcity issue of this locality. The residents were asked to even give in their complaints about the area to the authorities and based on that they made categories to carry out their work. Now they are looking to uplift not only facilities like water, electricty, and roads but also issues relating to sanitation, government schools, and ration cards for the poor. The locality will be at a much better place by the end of this year.

Kulkatpally really seems to be booming in terms of real estate. But it is sad that the facilities provided in the locality aren't great enough to match the property value of the area. Thing is that the roads haven't been constructed well from the very start. During monsoon season it is the worst! The roads start breaking and literally ripping apart. There are open manholes everywhere, major hygiene and sanitation issues, potholes, and lots of traffic. I guess you can say that the situation is better today but we do not see any major change. Just more and more repair work that inconveniences all of us.
