Actually the removal of the idol wasn’t that easy. Initially it was just the town planning commission who were waiting for more police officials. I know its just a tiny 86 cents land, but there was some protests from the residents of the locality as well because they actually wanted the temple there. There was some Hindu group also, who were supporting this temple. But after some negotiations the corporation were finally able to convince the residents to remove the idol.
Actually this kind of incident is quite common in Coimbatore. These people just came randomly and installed an idol here. They were trying to build a temple here without taking the proper permissions and registering their temple. Thank God the town planning wing of the Coimbatore Corporation came to know of it immediately. They stalled the illegal construction till the proper reinforcement came and removed the idol and evicted the miscreants.
Hey I heard this news. It was in the papers a few days ago. I think the case was of illegal encroachment by a couple of people who tried to grab a pre- reserved site. But nothing too major it has been sorted out. It was a pretty minor issue and I don’t think you need to worry about this. The plot is near Vellakinaru and it is a reserve site. Some people were just trying to make a temple here, no big deal. This kind of stuff had actually happened a couple of months ago.
