Is online registration mandatory? What about the stamp duty and registration charges?
Dwarkesh

The stamp duty for flat registration is 5 percent of the cost of the flat and Rs 30,000 is charged as registration fees. While the scheme is not mandatory, but the fact that flats can be registered with the government on the same day as the purchase may be beneficial to buyers. This will help buyers as they won’t have to take the day off.

Yes the state is offering online registration for new flat purchases and has made the Aadhaar card mandatory both for the buyer and the seller under the scheme. On Sunday, revenue minister Balasaheb Thorat will flag off the first e-registration scheme at Mulund.
