Its high time actually, I think Coimbatore needs to benefit under the Bilateral Traffic Rights. For that we need more international flights to operate to the city. The airport expansion project needs to be executed asap.

I know that the ICCI Coimbatore president Nandakumar has already urged the Union Minister to take up the case of Coimbatore airport with the Union Civil Aviation minister.

The ICCI President himself thinks that Coimbatore has played an imp role in the economic development of the country. I know for a fact that it had been ranked among the top 20 centres of economic development and its forex earning was around Rs. 25,000 crore!

As of now, the ICCI has sought the help of the Union Minister of Urban Development in improving the transport infrastructure in Coimbatore. The transport infrastructure of a city is one of the factors that plays a major role in its growth, and I think this is the best way to start work on a city's development.
