Food and Travel in Mattancherry

Q: Hi guys! I'm a journalism student and I'm going to be doing a short project in Mattancherry. Can somebody tell me about the shops, tourist attractions, and restaurants in the area? I'll also need to travel to Ernakulam during the weekends. Is it a good idea to stay in this locality?

Hello.. travelling to Ernakulam won't be much of a problem as ferry service is provided by the locals at nominal prices. You can also use the public transport for commuting on a daily basis.

Mattancherry is hardly 15 km from Ernakulam. Since you'll be travelling only in the weekends, it won't be an issue as ferries and buses are there. There are a lot of restaurants, shops and hospitals here so your stay will be comfortable!

It's a good idea to stay here. You have to try Hotel New India and Cafe Jew Town when you're here. Mattancherry has a lot for the tourist to see. You can travel in the public buses or ferries to go to Ernakulam. The Jewish Palace is also worth a trip!

Hi there.. Mattancherry is actually a tourist destination, so the infrastructure is quite good here. I would recommend you to try Vijaya Fast Food and Spring Cafe. Also, make sure that you visit the Jew Palace and synagogue while you are here!
