Q: Hi guys! I'm a journalism student and I'm going to be doing a short project in Mattancherry. Can somebody tell me about the shops, tourist attractions, and restaurants in the area? I'll also need to travel to Ernakulam during the weekends. Is it a good idea to stay in this locality?
Latest Answer: Hello.. travelling to Ernakulam won't be much of a problem as ferry service is provided by the locals at nominal prices. You can also use the public transport for commuting on a daily basis.

Q: What’s the status of the old Mattancherry bridge in Kochi? Is the development authority doing anything about it? Updates, guys!

Latest Answer: I read that the GCDA are thinking of restoring this old bridge as a tourist attraction spot. Currently it is closed to public. Their logic is, if they are allowed to restore and publicize it as a tourist attraction spot, it might even help in generating some revenue!

Q: Hello I am moving to Mattancherry and what to know the current update on the bridge toll fee. How come the GCDA decided to revoke the toll amount?

Latest Answer: I heard that GCDA is planning on involving public participation to improve the condition of the bridge. The chairman has said that he is going to take the suggestions of private bus owners, merchants and traders' organizations and members of chambers of commerce to get a better idea as to where exactly road work needs to be carried out. He's also going to take the opinions of corporation councillors from west Kochi region and representatives of various political parties. People from west Kochi can seriously chill out now that this high toll is done with. Perfect time for you to move here! :)
