Essel Group expressed interest for smart city project in West Bengal.

Q: On 4th December,2014, After carried out Rs 7500 crore worth investment towards development of 5 smart cities in Madhya Pradesh, Essel Group Chairman Dr Subhash Chandra expressed interest in West Bengal.

And for the city which has a population of per one million would require investment of Rs 10 crore. So, it is really a good news for the resident of Kolkata if their CM is ready for the development of their city.

To come up with a smart city in Kolkata or any other place in India physical infrastructure has to be sorted with a minimum of 50 years plan which would include intelligent traffic management system, sewage management, solid waste management, road development, working on broadband and wi-fi.

This proposed smart city will look like the pilot projects in Madhya Pradesh and will be developed under a Public Private Partnership model. They have presented their profile and capabilities to the chief minister and shall start work as soon as the tendering is done.

According to Essel Group Bengal has everything to gain from where it is today. Essel Group has expressed their interest and met the chief minister and put forward to develop a smart city in the state.
