In my point of view, the programme will begin with a baseline survey to assess the demand for such housing and identify resource requirements. As per the present assessment, Mumbai will need a maximum of 16 lakh such houses, Delhi's requirement will be over six lakh while Kolkata and Chennai will need four lakh such houses each.
Hi Akash, According to several sorces, housing for all involves an urban reform component to generate resources and capacities for urban housing, a set of guidelines, an element of government support and a significant contribution from beneficiaries, in addition to bank financing.
Yeah, iagreed with previous comment. According to me, as per government official statement, a large portion of the programme is to be financed in a PPP mode by leveraging land and other resources in urban areas. A large number of process improvements and policy changes are also inherent in the programme.
As per my knowledge, the programme proposes to build two crore houses in less than eight years. This will meet the requirement of both slum dwellers and weaker sections. It will cover urban poor living in slums, urban homeless and new migrants to urban areas in search of shelter. It will cover all urban areas.
According to news, while giving a go-ahead to the Housing for all scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday told the housing ministry to immediately finalize the programme and the financing models to provide pucca houses to all in urban areas by 2022.
Yes, Tushar, you are right about it. I came to know that, Prime minister emphasized the need to ensure that there is no compromise in quality during roll out of this ambitious programme. He further directed that safety concerns of specific areas, such as coastal zones, eco-sensitive zones and disaster-prone areas be factored into the planning process in cities
@ Akash, That's right Sufia . As per PM's instruction existing success stories and innovative technologies must be carefully studied so that best practices could be adopted during implementation of the scheme. Sources said the PM wants the programme to be a people's movement and should involve the beneficiaries, private players and government agencies.
