Q: Hey, I read it somewhere that they are restoring water tanks in the Telangana area to tackle the problems faced by residents? Is this initiative only taking in Hyderabad? Give more updates on this.
Yes, it was high time that a scheme like this should have been put into action in Hyderabad especially in the rural area where there is need for water bodies mainly for cultivation of crops along the agricultural fields. The tanks to be restored under Kakatiya date back to the Kakatiya rulers and since then have been neglected so far.
Hey you know what, the donations for the restoration of water tanks will range from around 10 lakhs to around 3 crores. Some of the NRIs have already been contacted to adopt the tanks, they wil have to pay the bill later.
Hey, I think the government has already sanctioned the money which is required for the completion of the project. Something around Rs. 5,500 Crores is needed for the mission to be accomplished. Some 2,500 crores from the central government and around 1000 crores from the state.
The governement is only concentrating on the rural areas around the city for major development of the water tanks and not so much in the Hyderabad city area for the same. In the city Kukatpally, Gachibowli, LB Nagar and Vanasthalipuram are the only areas where this project will work.
Hey, The project named Mission Kakatiya is actually like a boon for the ruaral areas of the city like Adilabad, Medak etc because around 80 to 85 percent of the cultivation area in Telangana depends on rain for the cultivation of crops and after the revival of tanks I am pretty sure things are going to change.
Hey, I am not quite sure about this peice of information but yes this will take place around nine districts getting new water tanks. Districts including Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Nizamabad, Medak, Ranga Reddy, Madhububnagar and Nalgonda come under the project purview.
This is a very crucial project that the government is taking up. This concerns the health of the public and the people living in Telangana and adjoining districts. Reviving water bodies will help revive life and will help reducing health risks. This will also lead to demand of real estate in the area. Good water supply will result in more and more builders taking interest in the place.
Yes I know, the task is just asking for too much for the government to handle. Removal of silt and digging up areas and then restoration of the pipes from which the water will be supplied to the tanks, raising the tanks whereever it is possible and then protecting them from encroachments.
True! The government said that they will try and restore around 10,000 tanks this year alone. Once that phase of the project is complete then the tanks will be able to hold around 265 TMC of water in those tanks.
The work for the project will start from the first week of february after the water resources minister Uma Bharathi, opens the project. The tanks will get water from Godavari and Krishna basins. Well, the project will require a large number of manforce and machinery too.
Hi, They say that the cost of fixing the water tanks can go upto Rs. 22,000 crores and will take around five years to complete the project named Mission Kaktiya. They will be restoring around 46,631 water tanks in the area.
I read about that article in the newspaper and was happy to see that the government is taking initiative to help the residents of the state. The state government is trying all they can to provide better living conditions to the people by supplying clean water which will be used for agricultural purposes.
Yes that was in the news some time back and yes till now it is happening in hyderabad and the other rural areas in the city. It is said that this will be the biggest ever project in Telangana. They are trying to restore tanks in the area, over 46,000 water tanks will be restored under the project.
