Information about twin city partnership with Esslingen and Coimbatore

Q: Hey, so i usually like to keep a tab on the latest happenings in my city Coimbatore, and recently heard some rumours about a twin city agreement being discussed between Esslingen in Germany and Coimbatore. Any details on that?

Like someone commented above, the partnership has been undertaken 9 times in the past by Esslingen. The 9 cities included eight cities in Europe and one city in USA. In my opinion, the german city will be very profitable for Coimbatore's real estate market since they have already successfully implemented this deal before.

This could be really good for the real estate market of our city, you know. All that advance technology and other benifits are bound to lead to some development. From what i heard the Corporation has approached the State Government for approval for entering into a twin-city partnership.

The German city's mayor Mr. Zieger said that the understanding, as and when inked, would be the fruition of efforts that went back to 2009 when his team and he visited Coimbatore at the behest of the Esslingen Coimbatore Association (ESSCOM). So this deal is long time coming.

Also a part of this deal will be the student exchange programme in terms of giving opportunities to more students. Also the Coimbatore Corporation school students will get a chance in the student exchange programme if the partnership is approved.

Did you know that Esslingen am Neckar, the german city with which this deal is being considered has already entered into 9 other twin city partnerships with various countries across the globe. If the deal goes through, Coimbatore will be the 10th city and that probably implies that the german city knows what it is doing.

The Corporation hopes that if the proposal for the twin city is approved, the civic body could get assistance in terms of technology to overcome challenges in solid waste management, maintenance of water bodies, waste to energy projects and a few other areas.

Yes, German city Esslingen am Neckar and Coimbatore may soon be twin cities and may share a hyphenated relationship, if the visit of the city’s Mayor Jurgen Zieger and Coimbatore Mayor P. Rajkumar’s vision are anything to go by. Isn't this great news?
