SCB and HMWSSB fight over water bills

Q: Hello I heard that Secunderabad Cantonment Board and Hyderabad water board are tussling over water dues. What is happening here?

You know the SCD has dues that haven't been paid since 2006 but ar actually paying the current ones as they ago. SCD CEO talke about this issue with the defense authorirties and unless their demands are met, the Water board's work will not bw allowed to continue.

At present the water board supplies 40 LGPD of water to the cantonment than the originally planned 50 LGPD which is supposed to cater to a total of 4 lakh population in this area.

I heard about this. The water pipeline goes through military area where there was once a shooting range. SCB is contacting the local defence authorities contiually and asking them not to give permission for the HMWSSB to go ahead with their work.

Exactly. The SCB has been trying to stop the progress of Phase 1 of the GOdavari water supply project and are not letting them get the clearance to lay the pipe work to solve the water problem. Also the SCB had asked if they could pay in installments.

Yes. Also the secunderabd board demanded for an additional 5 lakh galloons of water from the HMWSSB which was not acknmowledged. So the SCB is going around throwing wrenches into the its superior's plans and that too in a pretty big way.

The issue here is that the Secunderabad board owes the HMWSSB about Rs. 33.73 crores in dues. to which the Secunderabad board asked them to waiver about 13 crores from it. But they did not get any response what so ever from the Hyderabad water board.

This is pretty juvenile of both the Secunderabad and the senior Hyderabad boards. Basically one of the boards owes some money to the other and instead of solving the issue like grown ups they are fighting over it and are trying to hinder each other's projects.
