yeah, i think all these pending projects should be completed atleast in the next year, or they will just stay pending in the next year as well. If it is possible, these projects should be completed before the budget this year only.
Considering the number of pending projects from the previous budget, people in the city are hoping that the government takes note and makes judicious inclusions in the next budget on the pending projects.
Actually, the main reason for this is that the GHMC civic body is very much under staffed, and the main concern of the officials lately has been only revenue building, and hence, there has been very less attention paid to the other things.
Last year apart from the 5 rupees food scheme, there were no other projects that were taken up by the GHMC, and only that one project was comlted, while every other project was forgotten. Basic maintenance things like the cleaning of naalas, and canals was also not done.
But the GHMC officials are denying all this and not taking responsibility saying that they were busy the entire year with different issues like general elections, Model code of conduct and the metropolis meet.
Sources from the GHMC said that the officials are planning to draw up a budget of around Rs 5,000 crore for the year 2015-16, and hopefully many of these incomplete projects will be completed by the end of this year.
Not only the constructions, expenses were also allotted for protecting lakes and open spaces along with the development and maintenance of several other bridges and gateways in the city as well. But many of these projects lie unfinished now.
The previous body proposed comprehensive road development, expeditious completion of flyovers and underbridges, junction improvements, development of peripheral roads, construction of new circle offices, heritage tourism corridor and Gateway of Hyderabad project for beautification of 14 entry points leading to the city has to be implemented.
Yes, some of these projects include construction of public toilets, construction of function halls for the poor, the development plan for Mir Alam Tank, development of more colony parks along with the development of an amusement park at Kishan Bagh under the green Hyderabad plan
The schemes and initiatives envisaged in last year’s budget included construction of 24 function halls for poor, 1,000 public toilets, green Hyderabad plan to develop more colony and city-level parks besides an amusement park at Kishanbagh, comprehensive development plan for Mir Alam Tank, protection of other lakes and open spaces etc needs to be implemented.
This is true, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corp has failed to complete some of the projects thats it was scheduled to complete in the budget years of 2014 to 2015. During the 2014-15 budget, the civic body presented the highest outlay of Rs 4,599 crore, but many are saying that that the GHMC failed to ground various schemes and projects as specified in the budget.
