DMRC asks for Kerala government's help with granite shortage

Q: Hello, what is happening with the granite shortage issue faced by the DMRC with regards to the KMRL work? Has there been any conclusion?

You know what? That person is rght, the government should act on this and the owners of these quarries should be fined heavily if not corruption in these areas will increase by a lot and that should not be left to happen.

While on this there has been some issue with the quarry owners who have been using trucks that are using trucks without proper passes are transporting the granite. This issue has been brought up by the media coordinator of the quarry owners' association.

I'll tell you what if the same continues for a couple days more, for about a week or so then the on going works in the remaining stretch of station around will also come to a stand still which is a furhter loss of work days for the authority.

There's already been some problems in this regard. A few DMRC spokesperson have said that the construction works between Aluva and Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium has already come to a halt before the granite stock is all over.

Yes. if the government fails to intervene or help the DMRC with this, things can go south. updated Chandy and minister Aryadan Muhammed on the situation. The Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) and district collector M G Rajamanickam have also been informed of the current status of work.

So the Metro Authority's Principal advisor E Sreedharan has directly seeked the help from the Kerala Chief MInister Oommen Chandy for the same who is expected to be looking in to this issue or face the issue where they will have to wait for longer durations for the metro's completion.

Yes. The Kochi Metro Rail contractors have been running out of granite because of the works. The Managing company DMRC has seeked the help of the state government of Kerala to help with the smooth availability of granite to ensure the completion of the work on time.
