Demand is rapidly increasing for land and developers have started many residential projects around the Kochi metro project. But the demand is more for fully furnished 2bhk apartments close to IT companies which costs about 50,000 bucks a month that youngsters usually rent on a sharing basis. But you also get rates like 8000 bucks in places like Kadavanthara and Kakkanad or 45000 rs in Marine Drive. The strict building rules have been ammended 3 years ago and because of that 40% of residential homes have not been sold cause of over supply. And the rate of investement in the outskirts of Kochi is only 15 to 20% because of poor infrastructure. There are negative points as well but the advantages of investing here outweigh the disadvantages. Think about it :)

So the RBDCK stopped working. Even some land acquisition problems had delayed the process earlier, I dont know how they are going to keep up wtihin the 18 month deadline.

Latest Answer: There is a high demand to build a Vytilla underpass from all the residents and this is going to be undertaken pretty soon. The district administration has come up with a ‘portal-frame structure flyover’ which is what the flyover will look like. This requires no pillars in the middle of the portal as vehicles an go around. Vytilla junction is one of the busiest in the state and finally something is going to be done to abate the traffic now. The reason for this bottleneck is because of shoddy NHAI work for an underpass that does not even let 2 cars go through. It is that narrow. The project can be completed in 3 phases and should take off pretty soon. 2 small flyover each located 50 m away from the junction will help ease traffic. Temporary relief for right now has also been provided. There is ample space for this project and that's why even the cost for it is less, only 75 lakhs.

Latest Answer: Yeah, the Kochi Corporation hasn't given us a time for the completion of these projects. They have said that they would spend Rs. 25 crore to renovate Broadway and 15 crore for renovation of the Ernakulam market. The corporation submitted the project details to the Central Government in late 2013, but there is not much movement on this front. The Centre will probably make changes to the projects, and send it back to the corporation, who will have to modify the project details and send it again for approval. This has delayed the projects massively, which is kind of sad because these projects needed to be done at the earliest.
