Brokrage after 4years in same flat

Q: My broker has put a line in the deal paper to pay him 1 month if I continue to stay in the flat. Is it a common practice? This will be my forth year in same flat. His help after the first deal is absolutely not needed even if I give him any work because he gets money, except taking the cheque he shows his inability. It feels funny that if a famer does not work crop gets damaged, an employee does not do his part, can get kicked off children's don't work hard, scores goes down but brokers earn year after year!!! How can I get rid of this legal bond?

It is wrong but you should insist to delete that clause. By the way you are from Mumbai and in Mumbai you can get apartment through RealEstateDealStreet.com without paying any brokerage!

Yes this time I plan to insist him to delete that clause. I also plan to do direct contract with the owner. owner is happy with me I am happy with their house. Plan to stay here another 3/4 years. There is this clause which he takes advantage of. What should I do if he does not agree and shows legal notice.

Hi Manohar,
It is illegal and the owner is indirectly saying you to vacant the house/flat. He may increase your rent by 10% every year but not more than that. See your agreement paper is there any such clause mentioned. If not better to vacate the flat and look for some better option.

No owner is happy with me. He gets his 10% raise every year. I pay more than many flats rate in the society. never ask him for any repair, major or minor.
