Hey I have heard that apart from the taking over of the parks, the GHMC was also requested to release an amount of Rs.5 crore too, for the development only.
Some of the major parks that are to be handed over include Melkote Park at Narayanguda and also the parks at Saroornagar, Langar Houz, Safilguda and Vanasthalipuram,
HMDA is going through a big financial crunch, recently only they have transferred the control of many other green spots and also the maintenance of flyover also to GHMC. NOw they are handing away the parks also.
Yeah, now HMDA is going under a big financial crisis, and they have got no funds and money for the maintenance of these public parks, that is why this is happening.
Every year, an expenditure of as much as Rs.4.50 crore was being incurred in maintenance of these parks which has become a burden on HMDA’s present financial status and no longer can be maintained by the civic body.
Actually, under the HMDA, the urban forestry wing developed these parks, medians, greenery under flyovers in the GHMC area as part of city beautification and in the long run, these facilities were supposed to be maintained by communities and local bodies concerned.
Many of the parks that are present in different parts of the GHMC limits have been handed over to HMDA as the civic body was requested to take over their maintenance from April of this year.
Yes, HMDA is tranferiing the control and the authority of as many as 39 parks and green spots over to the GHMC. HMDA has decided to hand over parks and green patches maintained by it in the city to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
