Pallavaram municipality comprises 43 wards with a population of about 2.5 lakh, including 50,000 assesses. With 20000 underground drainage connections in place, municipality plan to expand the project to give connection to the rest 30000 but without funds authorities are unable to complete work in proper manner.

Hi , I think it is good that this charges is club with property tax which show clear fixed charges taken by govt. for all residential in chennai. so we have to accept this idea and through this we can stop unwanted demand again and again form municipality or other bodies.

According to data released in newspaper the Pallavaram municipality incurred huge costs in construction of underground pipeline and he has to recover the cost to be able to maintain it.The municipality has to recover 7.69 crore by September. While 3.48 crore is the current year demand, 4.21 crore is pending over the last three years.

Hi , it is true that property tax is cludded with the sewage charges. as seen in that Chennai residential is facing problem of huge tax and maintenance charges , residential is refusing paying charges to the authorities. to cover come this issue govt has taken necessary step in this matter.

Municipality are unable to take maintenance charges for the underground sewages system from most of the Pallavaram residents, who refuse to pay saying the charges are too high hence the municipality has clubbed these charges with property tax charges from April.
