Right Annanya, As per the Dutch Technical support, the 35-km coastal road between Nariman Point, Kandivali and the Mumbai Metro-III Colaba-Bandra-Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone corridor would be ready in 3 months .
The coastal road is part of the Rs 60000 crore transport infrastructure projects being undertaken by the state government.
Hi Guys, After getting the approval from State Environment ministry, the desirous coastal road from Mumbais Nariman Point to Kandivali in the Western suburbs will soon be reality. The government has granted environment clearance for a 35-km coastal road project to connect north and south Mumbai. This project will help in decongesting Mumbai roads and create 91 hectares of green space.
The coastal stretch will help a lot to the tourists. The road, considered as essential to plans for transforming the Mumbai into a world class city. It has planned as a freeway to connect South Mumbai to the Western Suburbs through a high speed corridor as a cheaper alternative to sea links for decongesting vehicular traffic in mUmbai.
@Varun, It is also came to hear that fortnight, the Maharashtra government had signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Netherlands for technical support to develop the Mumbai coastal road and Metro rail projects.
Hey Guys, We should thank the God because the environment ministry under Javadekar has often been criticised for dealing out clearances. Among approvals given during his one-year long tenure are Sea Bird of Indian Navy at Karwar pending since 2011, the Chhatrapati Shivaji statue at Arabian Sea off Mumbai coast, Damancherla Power Project in Nalagonda district, Telangana, Chennai Port Mega Terminal pending since 2012 and a number of National Highway expansion projects.
But there are certain condition which state government has to follow. The state govt. will ensure that coastal and marine life are not hit by the project. There will be minimum betterment of coastal land, no commercial activity to be permitted on reclaimed land and the project should stay clear of the high tide line.
But the bad news for the Mumbai's developer. Now, the BMC will charge Mumbai real estate developers for space it was earlier giving free of cost for flower beds, balconies, staircases and terraces. Since 2012, when the BMC initiated collections from replaced FSI, it has collected Rs 6000 crore. As our finance minister expressed in his budget.
@Kalki, To take Mumbai infra to next standard, CM Devendra Fadnavis indicated the first round of bids could be called for next month while the developers are expected to be chosen by mid-August. The coastal road will decongest the traffic of Mumbai and will create 91 hectares of green spaces.
@Surinder, But it is also heard that the fishermen have requested to be compensated for the loss of the fish yard as their traditional half-acre fish-drying yard will be affected while their houses will not be displaced,
True Manis, This is the another showpiece project in the country's commercial capital which is 35 km long coastal road between Nariman Point and Kandivali in North. Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar addressing a press conference detailing achievements by his ministry on his one-year long period.
Right Surinder, The estimated cost of the road will be Rs.10000 crore which is to come up in the engineering procurement and construction mode. Other departments which joined hands to fund this project are Maharashtra government and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is expected to raise resources from replaced FSI (floor space index).
