But residents of those locality should also think that the Metro-III project is for Mumbai and Mumbaikars. The city is about to witness a great development because of this project. Suburban trains will be decongested and they will be able to save 15-20 invaluable lives daily that they lose today.

There are lot's of question coming into mind, if MMRC claims that only 8 families will be affected, then why has the notice been issued to other 2 buildings too? They should rehabilitate only 1 building instead of dragging other buildings into the controversy.

Secondly, MMRC should have at least taken residents into confidence and come up with a tentative rehabilitation plan before issuing notices.

It is also heard that a tender has been released to appoint a consultant exclusively for Girgaum. The consultant will finalize a rehabilitation plan for the project-affected buildings.

Right Diwakar,
MMRDA has been issuing notices to affected families and owners so that they can proceed with negotiations with them under Section 126 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act. It is not necessary that all these buildings be demolished and residents evicted. They only need a little space.

It is true that the MMRDA had come up with compensation plan after Shiv Sena's protest ? On the other hand, residents of three of the four affected buildings in Dadar (West) did not act on the showcase notices they received on 4th June as they could not understand their implication.

Nevertheless, MNS threatened to rouse against MMRC. Shiv Sena, too, joined the protest and organized a meeting with MMRC officials at the mayor's bungalow but no member of the 4th building came forward to join the protest.

As per MMRC, the land will not be acquired unless all the residents are heard and compensated appropriately. The MMRC requested affected residents to come forward and respond to MMRC.

True Lokesh,
MMRDA's project execution team, needs 2 hectares permanently and 1.5 hectares temporarily for its Metro-III plans. That is why they issued notices to 58 of a total of 147 buildings located close to the proposed stations to make way for its stations' entry-exit points, ducts and ventilators.

Beware of Girgaum and Kalbadevi apartment residents because most of the space required for the project is in Girgaum and Kalbadevi, where as many as 737 families in 26 buildings will be affected. At other areas, only a few metres of land is needed.
