Govt will consider get rid of double taxation in realty sector

Q: Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya also expressed concern over huge amount of labour cess being unutilized.

Yes, the state govt. is also wants to simplify the labour laws and plans to bring four bills in the parliament. CREDAI also insisted that duplication of taxes in form of labour cess as well as imposition of PF/ESI should be removed.

Hi Sadashiva,
But as per Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy, construction industry is facing a gap of 3 crore skilled workers and the biggest challenge is that they don't have trainers. He asked the industry to partner with govt. for skill development and training which i think is a right step.

And it is expected that nearly 11 crore additional skilled workers will be required by 24 sectors to fill the gap mainly in automobile, retail handloom and construction by 2022.

Yes, Real estate industry has demanded to remove double taxation on developers who have to pay both labour cess as well as PF/ESI. As per Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, around Rs 16000 crore is lying in the treasuries of the state governments. The industry has raised the issue of duplication of taxes for carrying out labour welfare.

And the Labour Minister assured the developers that they will consider the industry's demand and discuss with industry representatives to discuss this issue. He also assured that there will be no inspector raj in this govt. but only inspection.
