And it is also come to know that govt. is planning to make the survey of land measurement necessary for all registrations to avoid duplication as well as false measurements in the land records. The government cleared proposals put forwarded by the survey and land records wing to take up digitisation of FMBs as it offers greater freedom in making sub-division of land at field level.

Subsequent to the approval of the concept, the survey and land records department demanded quotations from Survey of land to handle the project. Survey department thought that SoI was the ideal choice because it had developed an exclusive software for the department in the past.

Hi Praneeth,
In response to the request, SoI accepted the digitization offer at Rs 33/document. This works out at around Rs 15.5 crore for the entire project. The Centre has promised to take entire burden under land reforms project.

Unlike in other projects, digitization of land records is a different job and every IT company can't handle such work. Under pressure from the top, the survey department routed the proposals to the government for its final consent.

Yes, and officials in survey and land records wing of revenue department are worried about the luck of the prestigious project if it is handed over to unskilled bidders.

As per information, nearly 8 months ago it was decided to digitise about 50 lakh village maps which are called as field measurement book (FMB). The move is aimed at extending speedy and transparent services with regard to the survey of land to the people.
