What should be the depth of the foundation for a house?
Q: Hi Friends,
I am planning to start the construction of my new house. One of my friend told me that the foundation is also one the major concern in Vastu Shastra. Can anyone tell me that is it really matters and if what are the recommendations as per Vastu Shastra?
HI Kabir, It will be better for you, if you call your local authority to give you an idea of the typical soil type in the area you are building, and the sort of foundation that is appropriate.
Usefully, most local authorities produce a fact sheet on typical foundation solutions for different soil types commonly found in the area.
Hi Kabir, A continuous strip of concrete supporting load-bearing walls. For a single storey building strip foundations will typically be 450mm wide and at least 200mm deep, and for two storeys 600mm wide and 200mm deep.
Hi, It depends upon the engineering properties of soil, like bearing capacity, compressibility, etc so the type strata lies below the top surface of soil, if the hard strata is available at reasonable depth, then go for shallow foundation , or if the soil has low bearing capacity, high shrinkage ,then provide deep foundations like pile foundation or provide mat foundation
