Overview
Wakad is a suburb located in the west of Pune. It comes under the municipal limits of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation which offered it a full-fledged drainage system and provided electricity, water and good roads. It is considered as one of the fastest developing locality of Pune. It is the first locality to gain significantly from the IT boom in Pune. Pimple Nilakh, Pimple Saudagar, Aundh, Balewadi, Rahatani, Thergaon, Hinjewadi, Tathawade are some of the prominent localities located close to Wakad. Presence of a good amount of agricultural activities in the surrounding areas led the PCMC to take charge of Wakad, whereby the locality got electricity, water and good roads. Kasarwaadi (9.4 km), Dapodi (10.3 km), Pimpri (7 km) , Chinchwad (7 km), Akurdi (7.6 km), Khadki (10.8) are the nearby railway station. However, both Pimpri and Chinchwad are its nearest railway station located at a distance 7 km respectively.
