The proposed Elevated corridor from Jnanabharathi to Varthurkodi involve a stretch of 28 kms along the ring road from Tumkur to Mysore. The proposed elevated corridor is proposed to start from the Jnanabharathi (A) and connect to Varthurkodi via Sirsi circle (B), Town Hall (C), Hudson circle (D), Vellara junction (E), and Old Airport Road (F).
The impact of the elevated signal free corridor between Jnanabharathi and Old Airport Road is going to be largely positive. No the construction has not started although the feasibility report has been approved by the BBMP. There are delays are the tenders announced by BBMP did not receive a positive response from builders and developers. The cost estimated by the builders has been way too high than the cost expectations of the BBMP. The negotiations between officials of BBMP and builders have failed. Either the BBMP will issue new tenders or they may cancel the project. There is a lot of uncertainty as of now and the overall sentiment is quite negative.
The construction of elevated corridor between Jnanabharathi and Old Airport Road is part of the five signal free corridors which were planned as pride of Bangalore. The project has been delayed although the first feasibility report conducted in the middle of 2012 was passed. The Nayandahalli junction is congested with vehicles entering Bangalore city from Mysore. The proposed corridor is envisaged to ease the traffic flow and result in unhindered traffic movement along this route. The estimated cost of the project was calculated to be around Rs. 2800 crores. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) invited tenders for the five signal-free corridors but the submitted bids have been lower than expected. BBMP officials are likely to announce new bids for the project as well as the other four signal free corridors.
The corridor will pass through Sirsi Circlr, Town Hall, Huidson Circle, Vellara Junction and Old Airport Road. This is will definately have positive impact on the real estate market in these area.
